We all love our pups but what else is important to you? What do you do for a job? How old are you? What are your hobbies? Anything else interesting about you?
Could be fun to get to know each other!
(I know some of this is listed in people's profiles but you can't really have much of a chat on there)
Also- no pressure to reveal anything too personal! Anything you think is fun :)

I don't mind revealing my murky history! I'm 55, live with my lovely hubby (3rd time lucky and we met by internet dating!) and have 2 girls, one's a copper and one at uni. I run 3 businesses, a fire and flood restoration and cleaning company which hubby runs mostly now and I now mainly just do the accounts and interfere sometimes :) and I design and make jewellery which I sell at craft fairs and I do baby foot and hand casting and make silver fingerprint jewellery. That lot plus Dylan keep me quite busy so I don't have many other interests,- walking has always been my main hobby and I try to go to the Lake District every year which is my favourite place on earth, but getting too old for anything strenuous now! If you want to see my work, my websites are http://www.helenconway.co.uk and http://www.precious-ones.co.uk . Looking forward to hearing about everyone else.

That's exactly why I thought this could be a good idea :) I think everyone here (minus the spammers ) is so lovely and interesting, it would be great to get to know them beyond just the type of dog they like. I think we have a nice little community here, from far and wide.
Don't worry, Karen, I'll add my boring self soon (I'm writing on my phone which isn't all that awesome for this) haha.

So, let's see!
I'm 25, currently attending graduate school for school/educational psychology. I love watching/playing sports, singing, photography, and travel. I love working with kids, though I don't have any yet! I speak a bit of French and am trying to learn Spanish, as it can be very helpful in my future work.
Anything else people would like to know, just ask! I look forward to getting to know you all better :)

I'm 44 married to Richard, I've got a 13yr old daughter Ellis, who thinks she's 18, and an 11 year old son Roan. who keep me busy taxiing, homework etc. I'm a nurse for people who have a learning disability and work 2 nights which fits in with the kids and now the dogs. Love walking the dogs but often have to badger someone else into coming with me. Slowly turned into a middle aged woman ..not quite sure how that happened, probably a gradual process it crept up on me ... I used to be 28 lol . Spend many a groundhog day .. probably on here waiting to see what you've all posted x x :washing:

That sounds like a lot of fun! It's good to keep busy :) I think it's wonderful that you found love a 3rd time, and I agree, one of the best parts of having a dog is having yet another excuse to take a nice long walk. I think that's one of the best ways to relax or think.

Oh now Karen, I wouldn't consider you near middle age yet, you silly thing. I considered being a nurse for a while, actually. My mom is an operating room nurse in fact. I like the name Roan. Were the kids involved in picking Wilf and Mabel? or were they surprised?

This is so interesting! Kendal I thought you were much older - must be because you are so knowledgeable and experienced!
Karen, I didn't start making jewellery until about 5 years ago so there's nothing to stop you. I am a firm believer that everyone has some creativity inside them - you just have to find your medium.

Helen.... got to that stage where need to find something fulfilling, work used to do it but you get wrapped up in your own family and work becomes more bureaucraticle all the time, risk assessments etc. Have always fancied doing something crafty. I've seen some things like your work before with the finger prints etc was looking for something as a pressie for my sister. Kendal again dog training and grooming sounds great as well.Lia Bonjour/Hola .. you sound like you know where your going and where you want to be again sounds really interesting.....go for it girls x x

I also love reading and baking, I was in he process of setting up a small home baking business but decided against it when I decided to get baby Nell. Hi, I'm 44 and married with 2 boys aged 16 (lovely but can be a very stroppy teenager at times) and 8 still cute but waiting for him to hit the teens. Thought I was a bit passed having more children so it was my decision to get Bramble, had to nag and nag to get my husband to agree, but since she's been with us everybody is soooo in love with her.
I work part-time school hours doing IT and graphic design, but am too, looking for something else, so bored with it since doing it since I was 16! Trying to set up a business selling office products on line, so can be a home more.
Hobbies, love walking, and hoping to get back into a size 12 with Bramble's help before I hit 45!
Don't have time for many other interests at the moment, but enjoying taking Bramble training once a week and so I suppose she's my main hobbie.
Its lovely to hear what everybody else does, its sounds like the creative spark is quite common in Cockerpoo owners!!!

Oh boy, my life has been so long I won't be able to tell all. I'm 59 and it's just, Chole, Meffy, LuLu and I. Married once, divorced, and have two kids girl and boy. Two grand-daughters one from each of my kids. Only one grand-daughter lives here. Kids and other GD live elsewhere. I was born in CA and got stuck in Pa. Ha. I grew up on a farm and love animals. Was born with dogs and have had one of my own since I was 8. So I have had about 15 of them throughout my life. Love horses, had 2 in my life time. My hobbies are stained glass, making purses out of wool felt, sewing, making semi-precious stone jewelry, and bonsai. I did have a glass business for 8 years but had to go to work for health care. I work at a High School as a Para-Educator with emotional support students. I also job coach during the summer and work at a retirement home some nights. Whew now I'm tired..............

Andy I know what you mean about the walking. When I don't have a dog I just don't exercise at all, but now I haven't missed a single day since I've had Dylan, so I go from couch potato to a high-level exerciser instantly! I like to walk him first thing in the morning somewhere beautiful so it sets me up for the day physically and mentally. Although I'm in suburbia we have a really good selection of great walking places nearby. Actually that would make another good thread - maybe I'll start one soon!

I am a 37 year old police officer. I'm married with two girls aged 14 & 4. My other hobbies include, motorcycling, camping and walking. I'd always wanted a dog but the time never seemed right. Then in 2008 I was injured on duty when someone crashed their car into mine. Since then I've had to undergo surgery on my back and months of painful recouperation.
I knew that walking would help me regain my fitness and is the best form of exercise for people who suffer with back pain, hence why Stanley was added to our family. Stanley and I now walk 4 to 6 miles a day (Not all at once due to his age). I'm looking forward to spring and summer when I can take Stanley backpacking with me.

Fancy cakes how fantastic...I wouldn't have the patience for that I would be so trustrated if i did anything wrong lol have watched that a couple of times and some of the American competitions, great creations. Go steady you'll be able to take a layer off soon...its been 9 here today but coukd snow tomorrow ... great x

HAHAHA Lady has a coat that I think she looks adorable in, however everyone else says i am bonkers....oh well, there is a line of coats from Martha Stewart that are quite calm in their colours...I only put it on her if she is going out with me and it is unbearably cold...she does tend to chew it....as for the booties...i would love to try it out because she does get ice clumps and they get uncomfortable for her, and she starts standing on 2 feet....I just think she might keep chewing on them, I don't really want to waste the money if she is going to take them off her feet.....
The cakes is actually a stress reliever for me.....lol although stressful....especially if it is for someones wedding.
Jewelery making would be fun to try my hand at.

Ah ha, but I have a confession, I only moved up to Halifax 7 years ago, my husband is born and bread? (is that how you spell it?) in halifax, but moved down south (Reading, berkshire to be precise) for work, met me and dragged me kicking and screaming (not really) back to his hometown. But I love it here, fantastic scenery and places to visit and walk. Went walking on Rocks on Saturday hoping to bump into you, but no luck so far!

Hi Helen, being with your chidhood sweetheart sounds fab as does being a grandma . Walking on the moors sounds a cockapoos dream. Good luck with your search, I was going to travel down to Devon for a pup before I got Wilf whose nearly 3 1/2yrs ago as they were hard to find up here. Contact Marzy she's recently got a pup from Devon and Boycies ( her pup) dad produces fantastic pups x

Hi Karen, thanks for the reply... Yes Devon is lovely and we are lucky in that within 10 mins from my door i can be on the beach or half hour to the moor....what more could i poss want ?? a cockerpoo, we have a older gentleman who has a black on Totally black near us and we see them daily, Marli is only 12 weeks and he is so cute....he told me that his daughter found him online, as he lost his springer before christmas...
I am looking to see if i can get an older one first before looking for a pup as it breaks my heart to think that some may need a good home, we can certainly offer that.....

What a great thread! I'm Beth, age 54, and I'm a 6th grade Social Studies teacher here in Georgia (USA). I've been married for almost 30 years (this August) :love-eyes: and I have 3 children, all grown: a girl - 26 (married), boy - 23, boy - 20.
I enjoy camping, reading, walking, and generally anything outdoors.
My passion is going to the beach! My husband is from Sarasota, FL, and we hope to move back there after we retire. We're going camping in June to Anastasia State Park in FL (in St. Augustine, FL), and to Bahia Honda State Park, in the FL Keys (mile marker 37) in July. We can't wait!

Fun thread! I'm 25 (soon to be 26), unmarried with no kids, living in The Valley in southern CA. I looooove living in a place where it never snows and the summers are fairly dry! I've lived here almost all my life so I'm not sure I could adjust to snow and humidity, haha. Other than my little Sawyer, my interests are shoes, nail polish, makeup, cooking/baking, reading (on my Kindle!) and watching (too much) television.

WAAH, I am so jealous, I want a beach near me too! Especially today, when it is -30 Celcius here with the windchill.

Since my kids are in school much of the day, I spend most of my time with Chloe. I don't even remember what I did with my time before we got her, haha. She is my first dog ever and nobody (including me!) can believe that I actually have one. I used to avoid dogs as much as possible. Now, I actually pet my friends' dogs and I have actually been watching the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show the last few days! What happened!?! ;)

Yep we also take Flo to the pub. We walk over fields with her off lead for about 20 mins then have a pub lunch while she lies under the table next to the fire. When we went on holiday to Bude in summer we even found cafes that allowed her in while we had breakfast or lunch which was great. Most pubs in the country allow dogs, or least they do local to us.

Ah, I loved reading this thread!
I'm 36, married and got two children. My daughter is 3 (and a half - can't forget the half!) abnd my son will be 2 on Thursday. We got Rosie because I had a dog while growing up and have always felt something was missing since she died, and I finally talked my husband into agreement!
I work three days a week at The Open University, in the Finance divison (as far away from the lovely crafty things most of you lot get up to as you can get, sadly!) but I do love knitting and sewing and doing arts and crafts with the kids (generally finger painting, given their ages!). I'm chair of our village pre-school which takes up quite a bit of my time and I'm just about to start the second year of the OU MBA programme. Oh, and I just found out I got a place in the Great North Run this year, which I am very scared about! Rosie needs to grow up quick so she can get me out doing more than my normal couple of miles!
It's my first day back at work today after getting Rosie and I miss her! I know she's fine though because we have a nanny for our kids, so she is now the puppy's nanny as well - I normally get calls from her about the kids, but I got one about Rosie this morning!

It's so pretty, every inch is decorated! Plus, the Haunted Mansion is all made up to look like The Nightmare Before Christmas, it's so cool!

Ok, may as well enter in... :P
I'm 20 years of age, female, got boring brown hair but sharp green eyes. I'm a bit of a introvert, and am shy and insecure (my words go wonky when tense. Doesn't help my bravery...) with those I don't know but a little forceful and argumentative (mostly in good fun) with people in my very small circle. I'm not a girly girl, never been into clothes, boys, babies or pink, and never really had a friend. I'm used to it now, not sure if that's good, or bad. I don't want kids, don't think the world needs more people -nor do I trust my rearing skills- and I got dogs, their better then a kid any day. ;) I love nature, but have a special bond with forests and water. I enjoy unusual music, and really like cameras. I love drawing, especially my dragon hybrid. (think greyhound x dragon in looks) My dogs are very important to me and get a lot of my time. I will be going into college soon, but it scares me a little. I tell myself I'll be fine -I tend to underestimate myself a lot, even though past achievement surpass what I thought I'd get- but it doesn't really work. I plan to move to a colder state when I can, and am looking to get a standard poodle and a job in the outdoors with either kids or dogs as the focus soon.

I had no problem with turning 30 or even 40, but the big 50 was a bit more traumatic. I divorced when I was turning 49 which I think is quite common - it's a kind of milestone that makes women re-assess their lives and relationships. It's like you don't want to turn 50 in a bad relationship!! So in the end I celebrated it at Sandals in Jamaica with my lovely new hubby! Now I'm trying to think of a good way to celebrate his 65th - won't be retirement, that's for sure - he's working harder than he's ever done!

I have a holiday home in Bamburgh Northumberland and spend a lot of time up there.
I love walking and watching wildlife.
I am married and have 3 cats called Barcardi, coke, & socks.
I have had a lurcher for the past 14 years who I lost last year. Never can replace him. But decided to get a cockapoo after a lot of research, and pick up my little girl in 5 days terrified been a very long time since there has been a puppy around the place and 3 cats who are twice the size of her.

I had a cavalier from puppy to age 17, so I know how you feel about going back to the puppy stage. I actually got a 1 year old rescue dog first, but that didn't work out, so I eventually decided on a cockapoo puppy and I'm really glad I did. It doesn't take too long for them to settle in, bond and adapt to the family. I'm sure she'll learn to steer clear of the cats and they'll probably be boss. Good luck x

What a fantastic thread, great getting to read about about you all and a few suprises too! :)
I'm Clare, I'm 41, separated and have two children. My son is 6 and he has ASD (Autistic Spectrum Disorder) and ADHD and my daughter is 3 yrs, so it's pretty chaotic in my house most of the time. I've been full time at home since the kids were born but in my 'previous life' I managed the development and marketing of internet based products for a big ISP. A different world from what I do now but much easier! Who knew being a parent was such hard work?! The children go to Dad's every other weekend so that's my R&R time. It's also a major reason why I decided to get Obi, he is such wonderful company when the kids are away. He really is my dog, not the kids. My new baby, bless. I'm planning on returning to work (hopefully from home or part-time) once my youngest is at school.

Lol. It's funny how you go through phases in life and have an associated identity. I was Clare the career woman, then Clare the wife and SAHM and now Clare, Obi's Mum. I think I'll add 'and Trainer' so I feel more important. ;)

Oh dear...I'm meant to be working and have just spent far too long reading all 13 pages of this thread! But very nice to get to know everyone!!
I'm 34, married to my best, best friend and still get the giddy feeling with him that I did 10 years ago when we met. No kids (yet!). We worked in London for a long time, but made the decision to move out to the countryside (in between Brighton and London) so we could have more space and get a dog (not really room in a one bedroom flat in London with no garden!). I quit my job in order to get a puppy and am currently doing consultancy work and studying from home (not getting as much done as I should with Noodle constantly wanting to play or sit on my laptop and lick my face - oh, and continually checking in on the forum!). Both my husband and I work in the travel industry and have spent the last 13 years since leaving university on lots of work jollies, travelling round the world, including a year travelling round Asia, Australia and New Zealand a couple of years ago, but have now decided it's time to settle down a bit.

Hi Newbie, nice to meet you properly too! I may have missed it on an earlier post, but what's your name? Or perhaps it actually is Newbie and I've just made an awful social faux pas!

Here goes.
I am 60 years old. My job is end of line electrical technician for a electric vehicle manufacturer. My wife is Maureen, she is a training officer. We have known each other for 43 years and will have been married for 39 years later on this year.
We have 3 children Clare 35, Mark 34, and Craig 25.
Clare and her partner Dan Have 3 children. Ben 12, Emily 4, and Alfie 2, they run their own PR. company.
Mark is married to Kristina and have 2 children Iyla 3 and Mia 5 months. Mark works for a mobile phone company and Kristina runs their bed and breakfast in Northumberland.
Craig has just returned home from the army, he was in the Coldstream Guards. Unfortunately he was injured in training and has been medically discharged. But after intensive physio he is on the way back to fitness and intends to re-enlist.
I have always been an outdoor type, spending my teen years in the hills walking, running, and climbing. I've also competed in Judo ( I had my black belt at 16 years old), fencing, clay pigeon shooting, ran in the first 10 Great North Runs and competed with my dogs at obedience and agility, and now with Poppy at Flyball.
The years of physically punishing my body have taken their toll and I now only walk. We would trade siting on a beach in the sun for a long walk in the rain with the dogs.
PS I have got tattoos.

I'm 45, married and have 4 sons aged,26,19,18 and 14 !
I work part time as a Teaching Assistant in a primary school, hubby works for a food manufacturer and travels quite a bit.
Eldest son not at home, the others are !
We have had dogs since we married, in fact we got Barney, a collie cross on our honeymoon from a rescue centre !
Have had varoius rabbits, guinea pigs and hamsters thru the years. Had 3 previous dogs, Barney, Scooby, a heinz 57 rescue dog and Charlie, a cocker spaniel.
Now obviously Rascal and Scamp and Kizzy the cat ! Oh and Peter rabbit as well.
When Charlie died we had a 6mth dog free break and it was my youngest son who nagged for a dog, and as he rightly pointed out he was a baby when Charlie was little so couldn't remember having a puppy.
He was having some bullying issues at school so we decided to get Rascal as a surprise for his birthday 2 yrs ago. His face was a picture, we didn't say a word, took him to the breeders on the day to collect Rascal ! :) I had visited before with my elder son to choose him so we both had to keep quiet. I spent the time buying things in secret and knitting little blankets whuch I said were for the cat :D
Anyway he we are nearly 2 yrs later with Rascal and his half brother Scamp :D

Don't actually think I have introduced myself in here!
I am Julie but answer mostly to Jules! I am 30 something (trying to pretend I am still a 20 something!!) and live on my own in Windsor. I have lived in this area for 16 years and eventually managed to buy a flat in Windsor 4 years ago and love the fact I can walk to most places now as I am 5min walk from the centre of town (and can see the Castle from my flat!). I work in the Construction industry and look after environment and quality (previously also looked after health & safety too) but it's been a funny old year as the company I worked for went bust in November, but I was lucky enough to get a new job virtually straight away. I've also been a fitness instructor for 8 years but had to give that up 3 years ago when my last job got a lot busier as I was travelling more. But as the job settled I thought about getting a dog and jsut before I got her last year I ran a half marathon. Now I am trying to get back into my fitness as since having Betty I walk a lot more but do less full on exercise so been pushing myself the last couple of weeks and am now back going to Pilates (there is a Pilates gym nearby that has the Pilates machines which I am sure are actually torture machines!!) and running a couple of times a week and loving back being a bit more active.
I'd never had a dog before I got Betty but decided it would be good for me as not only is she company, but she gets me out of the house and i've met so many lovely people since having her. My parents were a bit dubious about me getting a dog as they thought I would struggle having her but the irony is my parents now ADORE Betty (so much so that they sort of share her with me and have her for a couple of weeks at a time every now and then as she has got them out walking yet they don't really want a dog of their own). My parents make me laugh as when I am staying at theirs with Betty, in the morning when Betty has been out into the garden for the toilet and my mum is making a cup of tea, Betty comes into the kitchen to see her and my mum says o her "go and find Grandad!" so Betty is now their Grandpup!!!
I think that's about it!! Oh and I have 2 tattoo's!!!

Gosh where to start!
I'm Sarah, I was born in Braintree, Essex. I have 1 sister who is 3.5 years younger than me, she's now married with a child, but she's still my baby sister. Both my Grandads died before I was born, and one of my Nannas when I was just 4. My other Nanna is going strong though, although she insists on falling over most winters and scaring the hell out of us!!
I used to work as an Entertainment Manager (managed the music, film and games section and the entire store if needed) in Woolworths, after doing my work experience there for school.
I'm now 31, and I've been married to my best friend James, for 9 years in July. We met online on Yahoo Messenger, 10 years ago on 26th May. He'd come across my profile and sent me a message because I listed that I worked in Witham, which was a town that his train went though every day on his way to work. When the message window popped up, I very nearly closed the box and ignored him, but something (fate?!) stopped me.. I looked at his profile and noticed a quote on there from the film Airplane, which I also liked, so I replied back, and the rest is history! Now, 10 years on, we live in Hadleigh, Suffolk and we have 3 wonderful children. Ellie is 8, Harrison (Harry) is 5 and Oscar is almost 6 months. They were all born in December, as was I. My husband also has a 12 year old son called Tom. We have a 350 litre tropical fish tank and 3 guinea pigs called Nutmeg, Rosie (Rosemary) and Peppa.
I have hayfever, asthma and grass and furry animal allergies. I had a beautiful golden labrador (Ben) when I was a child, but we ended up having to rehome him as my Mum and I both turned out to be allergic to him. He used to shed *loads*. I was devestated when he left us, but luckily he moved 2 doors down, into one of my best friends house, so I still saw him. In fact he only ever really listened to 2 people, my friend, and myself! he was a very energetic thing, very lively and playful. My husband grew up with dogs. They had labradors also, and even bred from their bitch once, which he has fond memories of (I've told him not to get any ideas!).
He's wanted us to have a dog for years, but I've always been a bit wary. However, upon doing some research last year, we discovered the Cockapoos, and were pretty smitten. I also looked into Cavapoos, but their possible health problems and slightly smaller size put me off. My sister has a Pugalier called Doug, and my kids adore him, well they do now, they used to be scared stiff of him! He's not been particularly well trained, and as she and her Hubby work full time, he's not got the constant company that he craves, so goes mental when he sees anyone... Anyway, my hubby works from home as a computer programming guru, and earns a decent wage, so I do not have to work, and probably won't have to again, at least whilst the children are young anyway! We feel that a dog would fit in well with our family, and that we can give it the love, attention and training that it needs to thrive. We are on the Jukee Doodles waiting list, and hope to bring our new pup home at the end of August, so camping trips and what not is all out the way!
As I already mentioned on another thread, I have a chinese symbol tattooed on my left ankle! I love nail polish, and have over 200 different ones now (I am too scared to count them all haha). I love make up and usually clothes, but need to go on a diet!! I also love watching sci fi shows, reading about vampires (amongst other things lol), going to the cinema, walking, the coast, eating out, playing with the kiddies, talking to my online friends.. I love technology, and trying new things. I'm pretty shy, that is until you get to know me (!), and I tend to talk faster than my brain processes the words that I should be saying, so I end up making up new words and making no sense at times!!
I think that must be it... Ooh, I'm getting my eyes lasered tomorrow morning! Eeek!!
Sarah xx

I had my eyes lasered 2 years ago and it was one of the best things I've ever done. I got a real kick out of walking into TK Maxx and buying a bargain pair of designer sunglasses afterwards.
