Ooh I am not impressed. Been at the park today and were standing Watching Jack on the slide with Pepper when a couple walked up to us and stopped in front of us and the lady stared at Pepper and said " I really don't like those, they don't have Poodle faces!" and then walked off discussing Pepper in a very loud voice! How rude
We never even got a chance to answer her back!

This will cheer you up Pepster. We met a lady yesterday who has always had Standard Poodles for many, many years and her first words were ' what mix is with the poodle?' so we answered 'cocker spaniel'. She was smitted more with Bayley than Holly (we thought Holly looked more poodle like) and said you could see so much poodle in him and could not get over what lovely looking dogs they both were. So as Pepper and Bayley are so much alike i think we can say they do have the looks of a poodle. :D
Oh .. I don't deal with rude people well either .. I just smile ..
They are unhappy and I am not .. thats my way of looking at it ..
I am always nice .. smiley and happy... and my dogs are wonderful ...
Some people shock me .. rude .. opinionated .. not nice
You are better than that ... just smile :)

I can't believe someone would just say something like that out of the blue! How disgusting & rude, if you'd asked then fine but her opinion wasn't required! :O Shocked, you should have said something about not being a fan of her face but you wouldn't be rude enough to say anything haha :)

Thank you for that :) and that lady knows what she is talking about.
I have a picture of Ziggy that I took when we collected Pepper and I think she looks just like her Daddy :)

Pepper really does look like her dad the same we always say about Bayley, we can always see Ziggy in his face. We fell in love with Ziggy as soon as we met him thats why we so much wanted one of his offspring.

It must be a thing with us young girls/teens these days haha, I would have been rude back seen has she had that kind of cheek, I just can't believe it, gobsmacked when I read this thread! I would just never dream of saying something like that to someone even if I thought it!
She'd do well slagging off a cockapoos face on this site! I think there may be an angry mob around her house within an hour from all areas of the country ;) HAHA

only ever had 1 person say to my face she didnt like cockapoos, i was on the oldies stall at a dog show helping out we had my Echo, and Laras 3 dogs muffin xbreed tots xbreed and Amber the cockapoo.
laura got talking to a woman about amber and said she was a cockapoo etc, the woman next to me started going on about cockapoos and how she didnt like them etc, i dont think se twigged that one of them might be mine.
i just said each to their own, theyn she went on about breeding whatever dog it it she has and how she was gutted that she had been on holiday and missed her season so had to wait till she could breed her.
you just have to let it run off you.

It is just infuriating isn't it!!!! Not the fact they don't like the cross but the fact they think they can be so bloody rude about it:mad:
It amazes me that people actually think you would be the slightest bit interested in their negative comments:mad::mad:
Went to herts show today and had lots of nice things said about and to Weller, so much easier to be nice than nasty!!!!! Met my first cockapoopoo:D

Thanks everyone... Although we are all slightly biased :D
Every time we go for a walk it takes us ages as so many people want to stop and chat and fuss Pepper and people driving past smile and kids point excitedly at her. It is so nice to have a dog that makes people smile.
I love the Cockapoos fuzzy little faces :)

Oh, I don't understand rude people. The nice Poodle we met the other day, that I mistook for a Labradoodle, had a lovely owner who was saying how beautiful Rosie was and was genuinely interested in what was poodle-y about her and what wasn't. I really enjoyed meeting her.
My husband always moans at me for being too 'nice' and not standing up for myself (which in his mind means being awkward and rude any time you get annoyed). The other month, my car went in to the garage and they hit me with a mahooooosive bill and then kept asking to keep my car in for another day until they'd had it a week. Husband told me to be rude to them about it and I ignored him. When I eventually got the car, they knocked £200 of the bill because I had been so 'nice' about it all. YAY!!!!

I was talking to a girl in the cafe in my office building, she owns poodles. She was unimpressed with my cockapoo ; ; I said that I loved Vincents poodle like face and she said he was nothing like a poodle and that poodles shouldn't be crossbreed :cry2::cry2::cry2:

We need a raspberry blowing smilie on here!!!!! That is what it makes you feel like doing to them;) It makes me laugh how they are so breed snobbish when every single pedigree started off in this way, cross breed, cross breed, cross breed or do these people think their pedigrees just appeared one day????:rolleyes:
Some people hey....
I just dont let them in to my world .. smile sweetly and let it go ...
Being nice pays off .. it makes you happier as a person...
Even if I think something not so nice (which I do, I am human) I just dont say it, what do I gain by making someone else feel bad or sad ... nothing ...
I am a bit soft and do tend to like everyone, rude people dont come into my world ... :) :) :) ....well I wont them in anyway ha ha ha ....
Maybe everyone in the world should just get a cockapoo .. I am sure you have to be a nice person to have such a cool dog ....

The mOst irritating thing about these 'crossbreed' snobs is that their dogs all originally derived from a crossbreed of sorts... The only true pure bred dog in existence is a wolf.... Poodles did not spontaneously appear from a wolf womb one day! They had to be interbred and crossbred over hundreds of years to create the final breed that exists today! Dimwits!!

Totally! I think by crossbreeding we are protecting the puppy race! Having these so called purebreeds can only go on for so long before they have so many genetic issues they can't survive. Cockapoos forever!!!!

Ah, so on that basis, what will be breed with Cockapoos when we get to F99,9999?

Without meaning to be the 'Thread misery guts' genetic issues come from bad breeding practices and lack of health testing. There have also been certain dubious traits that have been focussed on and bred for the show ring but thankfully this kind of thing is now reversing and a lot of good pedigree breeders are trying to breed out health issues.
Unless breeders stop producing Cockapoos willy nilly without the proper health tests in place then as people breed further generations of Cockapoos (which is happening more and more) then we will see a pattern of health issues within the Cockapoo cross. :(
I know I go on about health testing and I don't want to be a bore but some breeders don't think further ahead than the pups that they are selling. They presume that everyone will neuter they dogs and not decide to ever breed from them which is not always the case! The minimum standard for testing (if any are done) seems to be the sire or the dam to be PRA tested, why not both, why not other breed related tests?
Anyway apologies, rant over! ;) :ilmc:
