I've got the iPhone 4 and i do love it. Don't think I'd use anything else lol. Some great apps for it as well music and photography as well as office programs for presentations etc. But go in the shops and have a play with the phones and see what you think!!

I have an iphone4 and love it. However other members of my family have other android phones and love them! If you use itunes and already have all your music uploaded then the iphone is the way to go as you only need to carry one instrument. The camera is good enough and some of the photos I have uploaded of Izzy have been taken on it - Izzy's bed and the walk. I love the maps - I landed at Tottenham Court Road tube station during the rush hour - got lost in the crowds and my iphone found me a wireless network to hop on to and then directed me to my hotel - I love it! It is slower than our sat nav but is often more accurate. I also use Outlook for my contacts and calendar and syncronisation between the computer, the iphone and the ipad is brilliant. I just want a Mac book Air to complete the picture!!!!!!!!
I am considering getting an iPhone 4, but my hubby raves on about HTC being better due to the Android operating system. I just liked nice looking touch screen phones which aren’t too big to hold or too complicated to use.
I use user reviews to help me make my next phone decisions, try here:

I dropped my iphone and it fell in the toilet (I know :o) ...needless to say it is dead and I'm awaiting insurance claim to repair/replace it! :( Being without it is awful. I love my iPhone. If you're considering changing just bear in mind that iPhone 5 will be out later this year (probably around SEP/OCT) so you may want to hang on to get the latest model. Obviously each version brings new features and improvements but iphone 4 is great anyway.

just seen that the operating system upgrade for the iphone 4 is coming in the autumn, with lots of interesting features such as free text messaging, (between apple devices) wireless syncing etc. take a look at the apple website Victoria, and have a look at the operating system features

OK, so not Harri but Dave. A self confessed geek and I'm Technical Lead on a project rolling out Smartphones and Tablets to 12,000 people.
I've had an iPhone 3G, 3GS and 4 and now have an iPad 2. Harri has also had a 3GS and now a 4. If you are into Apple, the iPhone is great. If you already have iTunes for an iPod or something like that, you can sync the same music and video to your phone as the iPod (so saves a lot of time)
There are loads of useful apps and loads more useless ones - you'll even find yourself questioning whether it is worth spending 59p on an app (despite it only being 59p!!) Angry Birds is definitely worth the 59p cost.
An Android device (such as the Samsung Galaxy series, Nexus, HTC family of devices) are also a great choice but different to the iPhones. If you've never ripped your CDs into iTunes on your PC, then you won't mind having to rip them into the Android tool.
The main thing is, whichever one you choose, make sure you get the right data bundle on your phone contract (nice large one really if they will do it) as both types make it so easy to get on the Internet or download apps over the air so you'll use it more than you think.
At the end of the day, it is a very personal choice - we have deliberately allowed our users at work to choose their own device for this reason. Good luck with your choice!!

I'm actually running a beta version of the new OS and it is great. Still buggy - but only a Beta 2 so expect that. "On phone" photo editing, location based weather forecasts, Reminders, backing up to the "iCloud"

Hi, I have the HTC Desire HD and I love it. My husband has the iphone (3 though, I think) and is jealous of my ability to connect to non-Apple functions, like the Microsoft Quick Office. I am jealous of his ability to use itunes, but only because I haven't really worked out the music on my phone (despite having it since November - that's down to me being lazy!). And I've never bothered setting it up to buy apps, because I've always managed to find free ones that do everything I need (I got Angry Birds for free!).

Thanks for all your info guys. I would wait for the Iphone 5 in Sept but i don't think i can as Maisie our pup (who we collect in 10 days!) wasn't due to arrive until around Christmas time, i am no good at waiting for things!!
Very informative post Dave.. i do have an ipod also so will be good to transfer everything on to one device. The only thing that concerns me is texting on a touch screen and the camera. I know that one of the HTC's has an 8 megapixel camera so is bound to be better.
Clare that is terrible about your phone going in the toilet - i never insure my phones as i'venever had problems but i do worry that one day....eek:

The 8 megapixel is my phone - HTC Desire HD. It does beat my husband's iphone camera hands down.
Oh and I'm always being told not to bother with phone insurance because there are so many exclusions on it that it's just not worth the money. Then I lost my phone a few months ago (so distraught!) and my husband told me to claim on my home insurance - it was covered, no bother! Then my daughter found my phone in the toy bag in the back of the car (I wonder who put it there?!) so I called them up and cancelled it! Was very glad to know I was covered though! Check out your contents insurance to see if you have cover for possessions lost or damaged outside the home. If not, it might still be cheaper to get that added onto your home insurance.

the megapixles of the camera, aren't that important unless your blowing it up to a2 size, whats more important is the lens on the camera.
Here is a picture I took with my old iphone 3g and the picture quality is not that bad. the iphone 4 picture are a lot better

Ah, i didn't even know that!! Just thought the more megapixels the better the camera. Going to play around with one tomorrow lunch, i like the white one i think as it might not show finger prints as much :)

All the photos I've put on here have been taken with my phone, if you want to compare and contrast. Good luck - I tend to find myself just talked into whatever the salesman recommends. I am useless!

My phone was covered by a benefit attached to my bank account but often they are covered by home insurance too. Def worth a check.

I love my iphone4. I'd be lost without it! All the photos I post on here are from my phone camera and thunk they're pretty decent quality. And everything was done via my phone. (took picture uploaded it to the photobucket app, posted it on here)
My only complaint is the short battery life (but I suspect most android phone are quick to loose charge. And it only takes a short time to charge back to full power. Also in terms of Internet usage when I'm in my house I tend to use it to browse the Internet rather then fire up the laptop and just turn on my phones wireless so it goes faster and doesnt use up my data allowance :)

I have an HTC Droid Incredible and I loooove it. I also have an iPod Touch which is essentially an iPhone without the phone calling ability haha. I love them both but I like the Android phone better because it is easier to customize it in whatever way you would like (with widgets and such) whereas the iPhone is much more simple. In some ways I think that the simplicity is beautiful, but I like being able to do more with my phone so I'm sticking with Android.
I agree with what others have said about going into a few stores and playing around with different phones so you can see what feels the best to you. The one good thing is that there are so many great phones out there now that you'll be sure to find a good one :)

I have the Iphone 3 GS, got it last year just before the Iphone 4 came out, and on a great deal for a 32GB version on 3. Didn't regret not waiting for the
Iphone 4, the better camera did not mater to me as photography is one of my hobby's and I always carry a camera around with me. I'm glad to see IOS5 is compatible with my phone so no need to upgrade just yet.
My wife has the HC Wildfire a nice phone but I find the Iphone a lot easier to use.
Going to be hard when I eventually upgrade as I have so much on my phone I will have to pay a fortune to upgrade to another 32GB phone, didn't have to pay for this one a free upgrade as it was a special deal when 3 launched the Iphone on their network.

Loving this thread but I seem to be the only BlackBerry user!! I love my Blackberry and even bought the BlackBerry PlayBook (like their version of the iPad) as it was smaller than the iPad and is great as a book reader and for the internet.

I had a blackberry but my sausage fingers were too big for the keys hahaha :D
Going into the phone shop tomorrow for a good old play around. Found out today that i get insurance for my phone through my bank which i have been paying for for months and months but didn't know about so thats good.
Think it'll be between the Iphone 4 and a HTC maybe - leaning more to iphone just so i can use it as an ipod too rather than having two devices.
Thank you for all your advice guys x
Ps...... 8 days to go until we collect Maisie YAAAHHOOOOOO!!! :D

I'm an Iphone 4 fan - big styleee !!!!
Julia has a 3GS and our older Iphones are with various kids !
Both my sons (16 and 18) went the Blackberry route and are now both on Iphones..........it's the only time I was "hip; cool and with-it" in their eyes !!!
Expensive - but love 'em !
.........and I have an IMac and Julia is MacBook'd and we use a IPad for work - so we are all in sync !!!!!
..........personally - I used Windows on a PC professionally for 20+ years........I am now a huge Apple fan xxx
................strange..........but only now watching adverts on TV for other "tablet" computers and touch screen phones - as if they are new !!!!!!!!!!

Ok, so, went to the phone shop and they advised me i have to 'live out' my whole contract if i want to get an iphone and my current contract doesn't end until September (3 normally allow you to upgrade 3 months early) so i could get one now but i'd be paying two line rentals grrrrr
So, decision made for me... i am going to wait until later in year and will get the iphone 5! x

I'm with 3 and I had to wait as well! It was worth it tho, my brother updated his
Early and had to pay three months with 2 contracts.
I'll be jealous when the iPhone5 comes out and I'm stuck on my 24 month contract lol

The same with me still had 3 months to run on my contract, so I sold my old phone and bought myself out of the old contract. only down side was changing phone numbers.
