what exactly do you mean.
their isnt realy a breed tipe for the cockapoo, my girls are all first generation cross. Gypsy and inca have to same dad and differend mums but a very different, Gypsy is vey slim and poodle like where as incas takes the long legs for the poodle and the wide rib cage of the cocker.
Echos dad is Gypsy and Incas brother from a poodle litter. she is very cocker is the fas and ears and has less of a curl to her coat.
you may get one more poodle or more cocker. ie poodle body but straight coat or visa versa.
its kinda pot luck.
my friend has just bred her F1 with an F2. she can already see that some are going to be curly and some will be strait.
hope that helps.

Thanks for replying well she has 2 f1 cockerpoos that are not related and she is going to mate them with each other and i was going to have a puppy but what i was wondering is are they going to look like the mum and dad dogs or will they come out looking different cause i really like the curly look but what if they all come out with straight hair how will i tell when i go to pick one?
Or am i better off getting a f1 cockerpoo?
Thanks xx

its six and half a dosen. there is a cockapoo on hear who is very strait, and then there is another who is very curly.
how much reserch has the prospective breeder put into breeding.
its realy going to be a case of waite and see, thats the thing with the cross their is no real garontee what you will get.
can i ask where abouts you are and if theor are any other breeders in your aria that you could call up and ask what they think, try epupz or breeders online.
im not saying go somewhere els but you might find an exspiriensed breeder who can give you advice on what to look for or what is best.

Hello, from the research that i have done, i would say that an F1 cockapoo is more likely to produce a cockapoo that takes charicteristics from both breeds. When you breed cockapoo to cockapoo there is a chance that you will produce puppies that have more charicteristics from one beed than the other. Just as the other person has said, it is a bit pot luck with cockapoo's.

It is ALWAYS a tossup! My friend and I got puppies from the same parents and Dex looks way more cocker and her pup looks more poodle. Dexter doesn't have tight poodle curls but just some cute wave going on.

I realize this is a few months old, did you ever get the cockapoos? I would get 2nd, 3rd or 4th generation cockapoos and breed them. Provable of course (pedigree's behind them). You will get much more consistency with 3+ generation dogs.
When you breed 2 1st generation cockapoos together you will get a mixture of coats. Some will have the nice loose full curl and some will be very tightly curled like a poodle and others will have what we call a smooth coat. They tend to have the cocker look.
And each litter is different. I have 2 litters right now and the first litter is with a 2nd generation mom with a super tight curl (which I don't like ..the coat not the dog..lol) and I bred her with Ripley who is a 1st gen. She had 3 pups, 1 is very curly, 1 is pretty curly, and one is exactly the coat type I strive for. None have the smooth coat though.
The other litter is 1st gen to 1st gen breeding and so far I cannot tell what type of coat they will have. So far they all look nice and wavy, but you cannot tell until at least 6 weeks of age what kind of coat they will have.
You can see them here: http://community.webshots.com/user/1chantillylace as well as past litters.
I plan to keep a couple of females within the next year so I can breed 4th generation. I am getting a chocolate and white part 4th generation male from a breeder friend in California. I am going to pick him up on June 6th, she is getting one of mine in return.
it can be hard to come by 2nd generation and up, but there are more and more breeders having them now. So it is important to find a mentor, another breeder who has been doing it a long time. They are a god send! And they can help you get started.
Expect your investment to cost you at least $800.00 for good quality registered and papered pups, or dogs. It is important as a good breeder to be able to trace your lines back to a purebred cocker and poodle.
I also highly recommend joining the American Cockapoo Club and registering your dogs and litters. This will help to eventually make them a recognized breed. Or to be considered a "purebred" cockapoo..
Some breeders will tell you the only true cockapoo is a 1st generation, and this is far from the truth. The further up you breed the healthier the breed. With 1st generation they are still to close to have bred the breeds (cocker and poodles) genetic problems out of the lines.
And testing of the parents is very important as well to help get the lines healthier. Both breeds have issues and you will never be able to get 100% healthy pups 100% of the time. I have never had any of my pups with health issues because I am careful who I buy from and because my dogs are tested.
Well that is more then I had planned to say;) So I hope it is helpful to you, and others.
